Thank you for supporting the gospel's journey to Burkina Faso. I was told before departure that I would get more out of the experience than I could ever give the children and the people of Burkina Faso. This fact is true. I've learned so much about community, friendship, ministry and ways to enjoy your work as a missionary or pastor. Visiting a new place illustrated the urgent need to be thankful in whatever circumstance. Just two weeks prior I was consumed with questions about how to find the perfect job without a clue that I would walk into prisons and serve people who are just hungry for the love and light of Jesus as I was for a great profession.
The best part of this mission was the conclusion that I reached after distributing eye drops to a massive crowd of people who could not get eyeglasses due to time constraints. As I blessed them and sent them away, I saw something familiar in each one of their faces that inspired compassion. We are more alike than different which made the Burkinabe easy to serve. We were all experiencing the same conditions, which make the Burkinabe easy to relate to. We are all a part of God's family and relief for Burkina Faso cannot come quick enough.
Thank you for the part that you played in making this happen. I wish I could translate the feeling that you get when you hear 600 children praying together in gratitude. Until this is possible please note that change HAS happened in Burkina Faso and I can only imagine what the future for this beautiful country now holds.
Thank you again,
Cheers,
Courtney
