This mission trip was full of artists. Every night after we completed our work, we met for a tasty korean dinner, a short sermon, prayer and praise and worship. This fellowship was key to our success as a team and I loved getting to know new friends from Milan, Korea and the US. Hearing their tales of former missions helped me to admire how the young and old can come togethe rin the name of Jesus to spread the gospel.
This mission trip was full of important officials. We were invited by the government of Burkina Faso to bring the gospel to this beautiful country. Our midweek praise festival took place at the beautiful Presidential Palace which reminded me of a scene from the movie "Coming to America". As we prepared the giant dining hall, I was overwhelmed with gratitude as our arts and music ministry rehearsed a joint festival of traditional korean and Burkinabe music and dance. We all joined under the name of Jesus and our country's hymns harmonized as members of the audience joined in to participate mid-song! Language, cultural and generational difference could stop us from joining together in unity to worship Jesus.
Per usual, we were showered with delicious Korean desserts and Burkinabe nectar which gave our festival a genuine and welcoming tone. While we will always serve those who need the most, this program was produced for the government. We welcomed them with warmth and enthusiasm as we presented tradition al christian songs, korean dance, Burkinabe gospel, Burkinabe costumes and songs. The hours flew as we celebrated Jesus as one family- overcoming language, cultural and generational barriers. My heart jumped as I listened to the Burkinabe's response to Korean and european hymns and songs. I gazed in awe and the intricate costumes, well rehearsed songs and graceful dancers who lit up the night in the nam eof Jesus.
