It has been an eventful journey from a simple conversation about, "What if we actually went on a mission trip to West Africa" to less than a week from departure. As with all things new, the details do not come into focus initially but after our final team dinner before departure the mission is taking shape. After months of preparation, it is obvious that the real value of the work that we will continue to unfold for years and years to come.
Context
Burkina Faso has been democratized for a little over a year. This fact makes this country a prime location to affect change with the gospel of Jesus Christ. Despite the eager heart of the Burkinabe government to improve conditions, we are the first group to present a case for Christ at the request of the leadership. This fact makes this mission of the utmost importance as we partner with leadership to show the love of Jesus to thousands of people this year.
The Korean Imperative
The leaders of this mission trip are members of the Korean community both at home and abroad. While their experience working in missions is extensive, this is the US team's first time traveling to Burkina Faso collectively. The importance of Korea to this mission is tied to the history of the country. Our team has communicated with the Burkinabe government the history of Korea and its development with the help of Jesus. The Christian imperative as illustrated by the Korean missionary team is to model the love of Jesus for the citizens of Burkina Faso. We plan to influence the government, citizens and the most downtrodden citizens of this country with the love of Jesus.
